Abstract

The presents work is an attempt to review the research carried out on Blue Phase Liquid Crystal materials and Devices. Study also provides a historical overview of the literature on Blue phase liquid crystal and focuses on recent advances in developing high performance applications. Blue phase liquid crystal is useful in fast light modulators and tunable photonic crystals. These materials are undergoing extensive research to make them suitable for commercial displays and photonic technology. After providing a brief overview of blue phase liquid crystals, the article largely focuses on current developments in the creation of extremely effective blue phase liquid crystal devices for genuine applications. The difficulties encountered in the marketing of Blue Phase Devices and solutions are described. When these Blue Phase Liquid Crystals are doped with substances like polymers and nanoparticles, as has been extensively discussed, it is seen that they exhibit improvements in properties like high efficiency, wide viewing angle, excellent dark state without causing any damage to films, low operating voltage, high contrast ratio, and high transmittance. These encouraging findings suggest that the materials for Blue Phase Liquid Crystals with doping will be crucial in the creation of devices for upcoming applications.
